Encouraging responsive governance and reform
Advocacy
Advocacy and policy dialogue is another central RDPP pillar. The programme commissions research and supports partners work to generate evidence that informs policy and programming around durable solutions. For example, RDPP-supported studies on labour market barriers, informal work, or child labour feed directly into policy and practice changes and contributes to national dialogue on refugee inclusion. In its Phase III, RDPP explicitly sought a “more conducive environment for durable solutions” by ensuring “relevant research is used by stakeholders to inform policies and programming.”
In practice, RDPP partners convene multi-stakeholder forums, engage government bodies and international agencies, and use data to advocate for change (such as easing work restrictions for refugees or investing in social services). This strengthens the policy framework and operational environment so that livelihoods and protection gains can be sustained at scale. The programme’s advocacy work not only builds bridges between communities and institutions but also reinforces inclusive governance. By elevating local evidence and promoting collaborative dialogue, RDPP helps shape fairer, more responsive systems that reflect the lived realities of both refugee and host populations.
